The Orthodox Anglican Church (OAC) of Ghana, has nominated Reverend Canon Edward Kwamina Minnah, as the new head of the church to preside over both religious and social engagements of the church across the country.
The Orthodox Anglican Church of Ghana, a branch of the Orthodox Anglican Communion worldwide, is a global Christian Church committed to the historic faith of the Anglican Tradition.
The church was officially recognised in Ghana, on 28th July, 2007 under the name Diocese of Saints Peter and Paul (SS Peter and Paul) and has its mother Head Quarters in North Carolina, United States of America.
Mr Kofi Gyetsua Ankuma, Chairman of the Publicity and Media Relations Sub- Committee told the Ghana News Agency in Takoradi that a special Diocesan Convention held in the early part of June this year gave Rev. Minnah an overwhelming endorsement to be the Bishop elect for the Episcope.
The church, currently has branches in Dansoman, Kokrobite, Jasikan, Tarkwa, Shama, Effiakuma and Nkotompo with Sekondi as its National headquarters.
Rev. Canon Edward Kwamina Mintah, Bishop elect, who is currently the Priest of the Church of Christ the Healer of OAC Ghana, Nkotompo branch, emerged as the second Presiding Bishop Elect of the Church in Ghana.
The Bishop elect, hails from Cape Coast and was born on December 22, 1951.
The Bishop Elect, is currently pursuing a Master’s programme at the St. Andrews Theological College and Seminary in the United States of America aside a Diploma in Business Studies from the Takoradi Polytechnic, a certified professional in Theology from St. Nicholas Seminary in December 2004.
He is married to Mrs Marian Mansa Minnah the Ahanta West Municipal Youth Director of the National Youth Authority and is blessed with five children.
Reverend Canon Minnah, who would undergo official consecration and enthronement on September 29, 2018 succeeds Most Rev. Welbourne who retired in 2015.
The ceremony would be performed by His Grace, The Most Reverend Thomas Edward Gordon, Primate and Metropolitan Archbishop of the Orthodox Anglican Communion World Wide and assisted by Most Reverend Dr. C.I. Umane, the Archbishop and President, Conference of African Bishops of the OAC, and other Bishops across Africa.
