ActionAid Ghana, a civil society organisation (CSO), has advised the youth of the country to unite with their traditional leaders for the progress of their communities.
According to the organisation, there could only be a change if the people particularly the youth realised and understand their developmental priorities and work towards their attainment in collaboration with other stakeholders.
Mr. Kwame Afram Denkyira, Programme Officer of ActionAid Ghana, in charge of Education in the Brong-Ahafo Region gave the advice at a mini durbar on Tuesday at Asaman in the Asutifi North District.
The durbar attended by the youth and Junior High School students in the community, was organised by the ActionAid and sponsored by the European Union, to educate the people on the African Governance Architecture (AGA) Concept. The AGA Concept among others aims at increasing and strengthening the role of CSOs through various processes to contribute to African Union member states to be more democratic and accountable to their citizenry.
Mr. Denkyira entreated the youth to discard the view that somebody from somewhere would just appear to develop their communities to enhance their living conditions. He admonished the youth to avoid being used by any individual or group of people, particularly politicians to achieve their selfish interest to create confusion, especially during election periods to foment troubles in their communities.
Mr. Denkyira entreated them to be focused and concentrate on their education and trades, so as to fulfil their dreams and aspirations to contribute to the development of their communities and the nation in general.
