President Akufo-Addo has encouraged fisherfolks to eschew negative fishing methods including light fishing.
Addressing a durbar of Chiefs and fisherfolks at Jamestown in Accra on Tuesday, he said he was enthused to learn that the closed fishing season which was instituted a few months ago by the sector ministry has yielded the needed result.
The President said the only impediment to achieving the full benefits of the closed fishing season was the practice of light fishing by some fisherfolks in the region.
He urged them to support government's efforts to ensure a sustainable use of the country's marine resources.
The President is on a three-day tour of the Greater Accra Region.
