The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a major maintenance exercise across several regions on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. The planned works, which are expected to improve service delivery, will result in temporary power outages in affected communities.
In the Volta Region, the maintenance will take place between 9:00am and 5:00pm. Areas to be affected include Hodzo and its surrounding communities. ECG has apologised for any inconvenience the interruptions may cause.
In the Greater Accra Region, maintenance will also run from 9:00am to 5:00pm. The areas that will be impacted include Tuba, Kokrobite, Old Bortianor, Sowutuom, Israel, Race Course, Gbawe Gonse, Joma Agbozome, Ashongman Village, Ashongman Estate, Ashongman Pure Water, Pantang Hospital, Pantang Borla, Zion City, Kente Junction, Bawaleshi Town, Bawaleshi Pipeline and their surrounding areas. ECG has assured customers that the exercise is necessary to enhance the reliability of its network.
The Tema Region will also see similar works between 9:00am and 3:00pm. Communities such as Santor, Aunty Araba, Agbeshie Laryea, Nelplast, Kubekro, Level 400, Akuaba Estates, Tsopoli, Shilo, Agortor, Luta and their environs will be affected. ECG noted that it “regrets the inconvenience that will arise out of this exercise.”
In the Western Region, the exercise will be conducted between 9:00am and 2:00pm. Power supply will be interrupted in Amanteng, Manso, Angu, Eshiem, Inchaban Nkwanta, Benso, Bomba, Kwasikrom and nearby communities.
Meanwhile, in the Ashanti Region, the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) will carry out its own planned maintenance between 10:00am and 3:00pm. The areas to be affected include Rader Steel, Konongo Low Cost, Dwansa, Agogo, Nyaboo, Patrensa, Atonsu, Kokoase Mines, Obenimase, Pekyerekye, Akutuase, Hwediem, Juaso, Odumasi, Kyekyewere, Ahyiaem, Bomfa, Wabere, Asiwa, Ayensu, Ofoase, Hwereso, Nobewam, Duapompo, Koforidua and surrounding areas.
Both ECG and GRIDCo have expressed regret over the inconvenience the outages may cause but emphasised that the maintenance works are necessary to improve electricity distribution and reliability.
