The government has lifted the curfew imposed on Gulumpe and its surrounding areas in the Kintampo North Municipality of the Bono East Region following an improvement in the security situation.
The decision was announced in a statement issued in Accra on November 4, 2025, and signed by Mr Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, Minister for the Interior.
It followed advice from the National Security Council.
According to the statement, the decision was based on the strong desire of chiefs and residents of Gulumpe to maintain peace, as well as improved security conditions in the area.
“The Minister for the Interior, on the advice of the National Security Council, has lifted the curfew on Gulumpe Township and its environs in the Kintampo North Municipality of the Bono East Region with immediate effect,” the statement said.
The Ministry thanked chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and residents of Gulumpe for their cooperation and for choosing peaceful means to resolve their differences.
“Government urges the Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and residents to continue to use peaceful dialogue in addressing any disputes,” Mr Mohammed-Mubarak stated.
He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to maintain peace and security across the country and encouraged continued cooperation between local leaders and security agencies to preserve stability in the Bono East Region.
The curfew on Gulumpe and its environs was first imposed on October 21, 2025, after rising tensions over a chieftaincy dispute.
The restriction, which lasted from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., was aimed at preventing further disturbances while peace talks were underway.
