Mr Emmanuel Victor Asihene, East-Akyem Municipal Chief Executive, has advised people to be careful
of groups claiming to be agents of loan companies.
He said the Micro Finance and Small Loans Assistance Centre (MASLOC) had no agents responsible for taking moneys as processing fees or as registration fees for beneficiaries.
He was responding to a complaint by a section of the youth at the district's turn of the people's assembly at Anyinasin on Tuesday that they had paid GH 35 cedis for processing of loans under the MASLOC yet had not received the loan.
Mr Asihene said nobody had been mandated by the assembly to take any money from people or register them.
He said the government was bent on improving the lot of the people especially the youth hence the MASLOC, therefore any group parading itself as agent was only trying to sabotage the programme.
Mr Asihene told the people that the forum was the last to be held under President Kufuor's term and challenged them to point to any promise that the government had not fulfilled.
He said the coming election was a judgement on the good works of the government and urged the young ones who had attained 18 years to register when the voter registration exercise begins.
Osabarima Adusei Peasah, Akyem-Tafohene, who chaired the forum, said they were grateful for the several developmental projects and urged the assembly to speed up the construction of the town roads.
He also appealed for re-construction of the Tafo market, which he described as unsuitable for use during the rainy season.
Mr Kwadwo Afram-Asiedu, Eastern Regional Minister, mentioned the removal of the import tax duties and the free maternal care for women as some of the major policies introduced by government for the well-being of the people.
He mentioned other good works of the government as the capitation grant, school feeding programme and the National Youth Employment Programme that had created jobs for many youth.
