Mrs. Diana Appiah, Atwima Nwabiagya District Director of Education, has bemoaned the academic gap that exists between some public and private schools and attributed the cause to ineffective supervision.
She has therefore charged Circuit Supervisors to intensify their monitoring and supervisory role to address the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), results gap between the schools.
Mrs. Appiah expressed the sentiments at the inauguration of a-GH¢ 30,000 Office Block for Adankwame Circuit at Adankwame on Tuesday.
The project was funded from special levies on parents, headteachers and voluntary contributions from some institutions and individuals.
The District also supported with three packets of roofing sheets, 30 bags of cement and GH¢200 while Nwabiagya Rural Bank donated quantities of plywood.
The District Director of Education advised the beneficiaries to take good care of the facilities and also called on teachers to promote healthy environmental sanitation.
Mr. Stephen Osei-Appiah, Public Relations Officer, who was the Adankwame's Circuit Supervisor, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the contributors and donors towards the successful completion of the project.
He called for the strengthening of cordial relationship between the school and the public to facilitate effective teaching and learning.
Mr. Osei-Appiah noted that, the office, will serve as a platform for regular interaction between the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the school communities in the area to ensure prompt solutions of problems that would undermine effective teaching and learning.
Mr. Ali Ibrahim, Assembly Member for Asuofua, disclosed that, the assembly has invested greater percentage of its share of the common fund in education and advised teachers to put in their maximum effort to justify the huge sums of money being spent on education in the District.
