A prominent citizen of Winneba, Dr J. Ebow Bannerman said peace was the pre-requisite for development and urged the people of the town to ensure its sustenance.
Dr Bannerman said this at the Effutu Peace and Development Meeting in Winneba, organised by the Traditional Council.
He reminded the people that as human beings, self preservation and self well being should count in their endeavours.
"We need to take care not to allow our individual goals and ambitious to cloud and blunt our sensibilities for the common good either at the family, community or national levels".
This is because the collective good brought happiness, peace, stability and development to all and sundry, he said.
Dr Bannerman said the pursuit of individual interest must not result in pain to the family, the community or nation, adding that "if it does, then clearly it becomes a selfish interest and must be avoided".
He told the people in the area that personal interest should not be at variance with the common good of the town.
"We need to be constantly mindful of the implication of the pursuit of our individual interest to the common good".
Dr Bannerman appealed the people and investors to take advantage of the opportunities in the town to earn some income.
He said investors could go into real estate, transport, hospitality, industry and other economic services.
