The Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Environment on Thursday, directed the Metropolitan, Municipal and District assemblies, to stop arbitrary increases of rates and fees with immediate effect.
A press release issued by the Public Relations Directorate of the Ministry, said the increases were creating anxiety among rate payers.
"All Metropolitan, Municipal and District chief executives are all directed to stop these increases and to revert to the previous rates and fees until further notice," the release said.
