Mr Ato Forson, Member of Parliament for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam, has urged parents and guardians to see the education of children as a prime responsibility that would ensure adequate human resource needed to develop the nation.
Mr Forson said besides, they should also ensure that sound spiritual and moral education from the home and the church were given to their children.
He gave the advice at a special thanksgiving church service organised by the Saint Lukes Anglican Church to commemorate the official inauguration a youth choir, the "Angelic Voices of West Minister" at Ajumako Bisease.
Mr Forson, a life patron of the choir, said: "there is the urgent need for us as parents, guardians and citizens to contribute effectively to halt the use of drugs and watching of bad movies by the youth."
Mr Emmanuel Osae, a musician from the Ghana International School in Accra, promised to help support the growth of the choir to the highest level in skills and composition.
The occasion, which was part of the 70th anniversary of the church, also coincided with the launching of the first Anglican Child Development Centre (FACDC), an NGO sponsored programme by Compassion International, based in USA.
The Compassion International project facilitator, Mr Kwasi Cyriaano said about 200 pupils from Bisease, have been selected for education sponsored package until they attained the age of 22 years.
The church service was jointly officiated by Reverend father Thomas Jackson Etuah, the out-going minister and the incumbent Reverend father Josiah Myles Abadoo, who led the congregation in special prayers for the nation.
