Prosper Kafetey, 20, an ex-convict from Likpe-Agbozume in the Hohoe Municipality, has been arrested for allegedly stealing four pieces of beams valued at 32 Ghana cedis.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency, Police Inspector Kofi Appiah-Ntori,
in-charge of Bla Station, said the convict was arrested by the complainant who laid ambush near his warehouse, after losing 37 beams.
He said the complainant saw Kafetey and two accomplices emerged from the dark and with the help of torchlight lifted four beams.
Inspector Appiah-Ntori said the complainant raised the alarm and held the convict, which resulted in a fierce struggle. He however, managed to overpower Kafetey with the help of his neighbours.
Kafetey denied knowledge of the theft of the beams, but said he had trekked from his hometown to collect money from an unknown person at Hohoe at about 0200 hours on May 29, this year.
Kafetey would be arraigned as soon as investigations were complete.
