A farmer who stole a fowl valued at GH¢ 10 has been fined GH¢240 by a Magistrate's Court at Tuobodom in the Techiman Municipality or in default serve eight months in jail.
Atta Kwabena pleaded guilty and was convicted by the court presided over by Mr. Issah Abdul Wahab.
Prosecuting, Police Sergeant David Alhassan told the court that on May 20 this year, at about 11:30 pm, the convict went to the complainant cottage at Nsonkone, and stole a fowl from the complainant, Kwame Kwain's hen-coop.
"The complainant heard a noise in the coop", the prosecutor said, adding that, when Kwain came out from his room he spotted the convict running away with the fowl and leaving his (convict) sandals at the scene.
Sgt. Alhassan said complainant the following day took the sandals and traced the convict to his house where the wife identified the sandals as that of her husband.
The complainant and unit committee members of the area mounted a search and apprehended convict at a palm wine tapping center, the prosecutor added.
