A Cape Coast Circuit Court, on Monday sentenced a 25-year-old student to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour, for defiling a 12-year-old girl.
He pleaded guilty to the offence.
Prosecuting, Superintendent Kwadwo-Antwi Tabi, told the court presided over by Mrs Florence Kai that in March, Mensah visited a female friend who lives in the same house with the girl at Ammissakyir, a suburb of Cape Coast.
He said he took advantage of the absence of his friend, and lured the girl into a room and defiled girl.
Superintendent Tabi said at about 1500 hours on June 5, the convict visited the friend's residence gain, and gave her GH5.00 to buy him a bottle of Coca Cola.
He said when the girl returned, Mensah defiled her one more time.
Supt. Tabi said the victim informed her mother about the act, who intend lodged a complaint with the Police, leading to Mensah's arrest and his confession to the crime.
The court, also remanded Yaw Frimpong, alias Yaw Okuna, a 30-year-old lotto agent, in prison custody on Wednesday, for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl.
Superintendent Tabi told the court that Frimpong defiled the victim in his lotto kiosk at Apimanim, a suburb of Saltpond, after sending her to buy him bread, fried egg and sachet water on June 3.
He said the girl reported the matter to her grandmother leading to the arrest of Frimpong.
