A 20 year- old unemployed who stabbed a refrigerator mechanic in the rib after a misunderstanding, was on Friday convicted to a total fine of GH 900 cedis by an Accra Circuit Court.
Gifty Kaeka, who broke down in tears after the court had passed its judgment would in default go to jail for two years.
Out of the GH 900 cedis, she would pay GH 400 as compensation to the complainant.
Kaeka pleaded guilty to causing harm and the court deferred sentencing for June 19.
Police Inspector Jubiok Michaels, the prosecutor said at about 1930 hours on June 3, a misunderstanding ensued between Kaeka and Albert Eduam, the complainant while playing a Ludo game.
According to the prosecution Kaeka stated that she hated Mr. Eduam for no apparent reason.
This infuriated Mr. Eduam who nearly engaged in a fight with Kaeka but witnesses in the case prevented that.
Unknown to Mr. Eduam, Kaeka had gone for a knife, which she used to stab him in the rib and took to her heels.
Mr. Eduma, who bled profusely, fell unconscious and was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital for treatment.
On June 9, this year, Kaeka was arrested by the Police and she confessed in her caution statement about the offence.
