The Tema Circuit Court 'A' presided over by Mrs Lorinda Owusu, has remanded Joseph Cudjo Ababio, a mason, for inserting his fingers into the vagina of a 13-year-old girl.
Ababio pleaded not guilty to a charge of indecent assault, and will re-appear on September 10, 2009.
Narrating the facts of the case, Police Chief Inspector Adolphus Otchere, told the court that on August 4 this year, at about 1800 hours, the victim who resides with her family at Goshen, a sub of Ashaiman, was sent by her mother to collect money from some debtors.
Chief Inspector Otchere said on her way home, the victim lost the money and decided to search for it on the ground.
The prosecution said Ababio who resides in the same vicinity with the victim offered to help her look for the lost GH¢10.
The prosecution said the accused later lured the victim into his house under the pretext of giving her a torch-light to use in the search.
Chief Inspector Otchere said Ababio inserted his fingers into the vagina of the victim, and asked her to go home.
On reaching home, the victim informed her mother of her ordeal, who subsequently lodged a complaint at the Ashaiman branch of DOVVSU, leading to the arrest of Ababio.
