Alhaji Haruna Bukari Dabre, Assemblyman for Mamobi
East has called on the youth to form associations to facilitate the development of their communities.
Alhaji Dabre made the call at the commissioning of streetlights at Mamobi
in Accra on Wednesday.
The 3,000 Ghana cedis streetlights provided by Dabs/Isoflex Company under the initiative of Alhaji Dabre.
He said the provision of the streetlights would help curb criminal and other anti-social activities in the area.
The Assemblyman appealed to the government to provide the community with facilities such as schools, markets and other social amenities to improve the living standards of the people.
Alhaji Dabre noted that the absence of schools and the high fees charged by private schools in the area had contributed to a large number of unemployed youth who had taken to anti-social activities which had given the community a bad name.
He stressed the need to empower the youth with employable skills and training through the establishment of vocational and technical institutions in the area.
Alhaji Dabre noted that; 'The Devil finds work for idle hands' and said with skills training the young people could engage in various economic and
income generating activities.
He commended the government for initiating the 'Founders Day' and declaring the birthday of the country's first President as a national holiday.
Alhaji Dabre said the youth policy, initiated by Dr Kwame Nkrumah, made the young people patriotic.
