A Bolgatanga Circuit Court on Wednesday remanded 58-year old Joseph Azamgbego Akpenka, a works foreman into prison custody for allegedly defiling an eleven year old primary five pupil at Bolgatanga, in the Upper East Region.
The victim lived with one madam Gocka at Soe a suburb of Bolgatanga, whereas the accused works with the Department of Rural Housing in Bolgatanga.
Prosecuting, Detective Inspector Emmanuel Daketse told the court presided over by Mr. William Boampong that on 18th October 2009, one Madam
Kubura, detected a change in the way the victim walked and questioned her.
The prosecution said the victim then revealed that it was the accused person who had sexual intercourse with her.
The prosecution said a report was made to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVU), where a medical form was issued to the victim
to get medical care and confirmation from the Regional Hospital.
Inspector Dekatse said the medical examination confirmed the case and the accused was arrested and arraigned before the court.
The accused has however denied the allegation.
