President John Dramani Mahama has refuted claim that he has been appointed by the United Nations (UN) to co-chair a session on Sustainable Development Goals as has circulated on some social media platforms.
In a post on his facebook page yesterday, Mr. Mahama stated that contrary to information circulating on social media, the appointment was made in January 2016 when he was still president of the country.
“Folks! I have no new UN appointment. The Co-chair of SDG advocacy group appointment was made last year January when I was President,” he said.
Information making rounds on social media on Sunday suggested that the former President Mahama had been appointed by the United Nations to co-chair a session on the sustainable development goals.
The former President has however come out to refute the claim, indicating that the statement being sent round is an old one and not current.
“What many are sharing are the UN statement from January 2016 announcing the appointment and my statements at the 2016 Davos Forum.”
