Mr Mohammed Sule, a Businessman, has been elected by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) delegates to chair the affairs of the Party in the Wa Central Constituency in Upper West Region.
Mr Sule polled 684 votes out of 1,343 valid votes cast to beat his closest contender Alhaji Issahaku Sidiki Famina who managed with 398 votes at the Delegates’ Conference of Wa Central Constituency on Saturday.
Other aspirants for the Constituency Chairmanship position included Mr Yahaya Umar Bongo who had 44 votes; Alhaji Dauda Yahaya Mwiningpagraolo, 129 votes and Mr Iddrisu Adams, 88 votes.
Mr Sukari Osman polled 405 votes to become the newly elected Vice Chairman after beating four other competitors for the post.
They are Mr Habib Iddrisu Dodoo, 251 votes; Mr Abubakari Kassim, 283 votes; Mr Malik Issah Luqman, 263 votes and Mr Abubakari Saeed Watara 135 votes. Eleven ballots were rejected.
Mr Abu SalifuTamaah polled 777 votes to scoop the Constituency Secretary position, beating Mr Abdulai Abass and Mr Ahmed IssahakuTijani who polled 340 and 215 votes respectively. Twelve ballots were rejected.
Mr Issah Adnan was also voted the new Constituency Organiser after scooping 931 votes, beating Mr Abu Abdul-Wahab, 128 votes; Mr Osman Salifu, 142 votes; Mr Abubakari Ali, 56 votes and Mr Mohammed Saani Sungumo, 85 votes.
Mr Salifu Naeem polled 559 votes to become the Constituency Treasurer, thrashing Mr Haruna Yahaya and Salifu Siita who polled 342 and 377 votes respectively. 82 ballots were rejected.
For the Communication Officer position, Mr IddrisuAnsuar-deen Nanjo and Alhaji EssamSeidu each polled 286 votes to surrender the position to Mumuni Mohammed Tando who polled 769 votes.
Abubakari SalifuLaale was elected the Constituency Zongo Caucus Leader after polling 806 votes while his only rival Mohammed Ahmed Kaboregot 538 votes.
Meanwhile, Mr Alhassan Nuhu, Mr Iddrisu Abubakari, Mr Adam Masahudu and Mr Abubakari Nurideen were all elected Deputy Constituency Secretary, Deputy Constituency Organiser, Deputy Constituency Treasurer and Deputy Constituency Communication Officer respectively.
The election, which was supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC) also saw the election of eight other executive members to help steer the affairs of the Party in Wa Central Constituency.
The Constituency Women Organiser and the Constituency Youth Organiser and their Deputies were earlier elected before the election of candidates for the other positions kicked started at around noon at the Wa Senior High Technical School on Saturday.
Newly elected Chairman Mr Sule in a brief victory speech expressed thanks to the delegates for reposing confidence in him.
He appealed to all NDC Party supporters to rally behind him in order to snatch power from the ruling New Patriotic Party in the 2020 general elections.
