The Central Regional branch of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the weekend held its delegates congress to elect new Constituency Executives to lead the Party into the 2020 general elections.
The elections, which were supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC) were generally smooth and peaceful, however, there were some skirmishes in some constituencies that brought the elections to a halt.
At the Cape Coast North Constituency, the 14-member elected Executives was chaired by Dr Adams Usmanu who was elected unopposed with Dr Shaibu Bukari as the Vice chairman.
Other executives elected were Mr Peter Gyakye, Secretary, Mr Fred Kweku Appiah, Deputy Secretary, Mr Moses Osei, Organiser, Madam Ophelia Sampson, Women’s Organiser and Stephen Ebu, Communications Officer.
Eight other Executive Members were also elected.
Mr John Quachcoe polled 631 to beat two other contestants to win the chairmanship position in the Komenda –Edina Eguafo Abrem (KEEA) Constituency, while Mr Francis Edubea was elected as his Vice.
Augustine Koomson was elected the Organiser, Charles Entsuah, Secretary, Joseph Kobby Assmah, Communications Officer, Madam Vivian Sortoh, Women’s Organiser and Ekow Cantah, Youth Organiser.
In the Cape Coast South, Mr Korankye Taylor beat the incumbent, Mr Mohammed Muftao to the chairmanship position while Mr George Kuofie was elected Vice Chairman.
The rest were Mr Nanka Bruce, Organiser, Papa Hassan, Youth Organiser, Mr Aggrey Fynn, Treasurer, Mr George Arthur, Secretary, Ama Korsah, Women’s Organiser and Akosua Ofosua, Communications Officer.
Mr Felix Benefoh was elected Chairman in the Assin North Constituency with Mr Haruna Ali as his Vice.
Other executives elected were Mr Samuel Mensah, Secretary, Mr Mustapha Armin, Deputy Secretary, Mr Edmond Fierson, Organiser, Mr Eric Ayi Ayitey, Communications Officer, Mr George Ansh-Bol, Treasure and Madam Gifty Quansah, Women’s Organiser.
In the Upper Denkyira East Constituency, Mr Nicholas Quaicoo won the chairmanship position while Mr Joseph Kwasi Anopong was elected Vice Chairman.
The Secretary position went to Mr Samuel Sam Bennett, Mr George Anane Coleman won the Organiser, Mr John Swanzy Arhin, Youth Organiser and Madam Richlove Arhin, Women’s Organiser.
