Mr Eric Saforo, the Training and Capacity Building Manager of the Youth Empowerment Synergy (YES-Ghana) has advised the Youth to participate in activities of political leadership in various levels of both government and community to promote national development.
He said the decision makers in the country should support the national umbrella body of youth-led organisations and associations to serve as the pivot for youth voices and input into national decision-making processes.
Mr Saforo said this on Thursday during Youth Policy Dialogue seminar organised by YES-Ghana and supported by the CommonWealth Foundation in Tamale.The event was on the theme: “Improving Youth Participation in Public Policy Decision-Marking” and was aimed at according the Youth groups across the Northern Region the opportunity to review the 2018 National Youth Policy.
Mr Saforo advised the Youth to engage themselves in economic activities to give them self-employable skills to meet the needs of the labour market.Madam Esther Boateng, Northern Regional Programmes Manager of Action Aid Ghana said it was necessary for stakeholders of the Youth Policy to ensure that the young people were fully informed of their human rights and were able to exercise their rights freely.
According to her, the National Youth Authority should partner Government Ministries and Agencies to develop tools to improve access to information and communication technology to promote ICT in the school curriculum.The YES Ghana is a Non-Governmental Organisation, which brings together innovative and energetic young professionals in different capacities working with relevant stakeholders to lay the foundation for and work towards the promotion of a sustainable and productive future for all young people in the country.
