Obrempong Kru Takyi, the Paramount Chief of Abease in the Pru District of the newly created Bono East Region, has appealed to the government for infrastructural development to enhance the socio-economic livelihoods of the people.
He expressed worry that though the area had been a stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), successive NDC governments had neglected the people in terms of development.
Obrempong Takyi appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to remember the Abease and its surroundings communities in the distribution of the national cake and bring development to the people.
President Akufo-Addo was in the area as part of his four-day working visit to the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions.
Obrempong Takyi lamented that apart from the Community Day Senior High School project it benefited under the previous government, the Abease community did not benefit from any development project from the central government.
He said the deplorable state of the Abease-Prang road and the worsened water problem in the area needed the attention of the government.
Nana Akufo-Addo said he appreciated the concerns of the community and called on the people to support his government to better lives of Ghanaians in general.
President Akufo-Addo late, paid a courtesy call on the Techiman Traditional Council and told the chiefs his government was determined to bring local government to the door-step of the people to deepen democratic governance.
He said Techiman as an ancient town deserved the regional capital and called on the chiefs and the people to support the development of the new region.
President Akufo-Addo commended the Traditional Council for releasing land for the construction of the Bono East Regional administration and called on the chiefs to support and promote good working relations with the staff of the Regional Coordinating Council.
Oseadeeyo Akumfi-Ameyaw II, the Paramount Chief of Techiman, advised the people in the area to vote for the New Patriotic Party in Election 2020 as the best appreciation and honour the people could give to the President for creating the Bono East Region with the capital town at Techiman.
Oseadeeyo Akumfi-Ameyaw II also called on the people in the region to support the leadership of the new Regional Coordinating Council to facilitate the rapid development of the region.
The President later inspected the new site for the RCC at Forikrom in the Techiman Municipality.
