Ugandan opposition figure Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has said he is two years younger than purported by his critics in a recent row over his real age.
Bobi Wine, a presidential nominee for Uganda's elections in January 2021, was accused of changing his year of birth to appeal to the youth.
He has now clarified that he was born in 1982 and not 1980 as was said by a Kampala-based lawyer Hassan Male Mabirizi.
The lawyer had reached out to the examination council for a confirmation on the date and age when the politician completed his A-levels.
The council documents showed he completed in 1998 aged 18 - making 1980 his year of birth, according to the lawyer.
Bobi Wine has told journalists that he delayed sitting for the examinations because of lack of school fees: https://twitter.com/nbstv/status/1300359291992506368
