He explained that such coups d’état were not only destructive, but also retrogressive as they impeded progress, growth and development and must be encouraged.

Mr Mba lamented over how some individuals were making statements concerning coupsd’état in the country and cautioned that they were never alternatives to democracy rather destabilised good governance and rule of law.

“Gone are the days of military adventurous usurping of constitutional power and for the three decades, we have a very vibrant media ensuring that the country’s sacred powers are not wrestled and robbed by persons in uniform because they normally play on popular sentiments to enable their total capture to power for selfish looting and aggrandisement.

“I recall the massive and popular resistance and revolt against the Provisional National Defence Council in December 1981 in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region led by Paul many others and how can the security take over the administration of an establishment? Citizens tasted and tested democracy and the obvious choice was free multi party democratic governance,” Mr Mba noted.

He said until total justice was brought to book, beneficiaries of such criminal acts would always continue to preach vices and violence and Ghanaians have always shown courage and encouragement that progress, growth and development depended on freedom of collective will to accept democratic dispensation through a constitution.
