The Constituency Chairmen Caucus of the Eastern Region of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has unanimously reaffirmed its support for the top-down approach proposed by the party’s highest decision-making body ahead of the upcoming National Delegates Conference scheduled on Saturday, July 19, 2025
In a statement issued after a meeting held in Koforidua on Monday, July 14, the chairmen said the approach would promote unity within the party, streamline internal decision-making, and ensure adherence to the NPP’s constitution.
“We are convinced that this method will facilitate a smooth, transparent, and credible selection process, ultimately strengthening our party’s position as we gear up for the 2028 elections,” the statement read.
The caucus rejected what it described as attempts by opposition forces to undermine the party’s stability through the promotion of alternative agendas.
Describing the NPP as a “Well-grounded institution with a rich political tradition in Ghana,” the chairmen declared their unwavering support for the decisions of the party’s National Executive Council and the Office of the General Secretary.
They expressed confidence in the national leadership’s authority and judgment, pledging their commitment to uphold and implement its directives.
“This unity and adherence to our party’s decisions will undoubtedly strengthen our organisation and enhance our ability to achieve our goals,” the statement added.
The group, led by its Dean, Chairman Barima Boadi Bosompem, called on all party members and Ghanaians to respect the party’s constitution and work collectively toward a stronger, more unified NPP ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The upcoming conference is expected to be a pivotal moment for the party, with major constitutional reforms on the agenda. Delegates will deliberate on proposed amendments arising from the Prof. Mike Oquaye Committee report and a longstanding proposal from the party’s 2019 Delegates Conference in Kumasi.
This year’s conference will be held under the theme “Rebuilding Together With Our Values,” reflecting the party’s focus on unity, renewal, and long-term strategic planning.
