The Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has expressed confidence that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will secure victory in the upcoming Akwatia by-election.
He explained that the party is determined to honour the late Defence Minister and NDC’s Director of Elections and IT, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, who, according to him, spearheaded strategies to strengthen the NDC’s electoral performance before his passing.
The Akwatia by-election, scheduled for September 2, 2025, will be fiercely contested between the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following the death of the late NPP Member of Parliament, Ernest Kumi.
Speaking to the media ahead of the Africa-Singapore Business Forum on Monday, August 25, Kwakye Ofosu stressed the NDC’s strong anticipation of reclaiming the seat from the NPP.
“We all miss Dr. Omane Boamah. Indeed, we do know that before he passed rather unceremoniously, so tragically, he had begun to lay the block works for resounding victory in Akwatia. So in his memory, we will carry out the plans as he laid out and we will build upon them.
“We will add more impetus to it and ensure that we fine-tune it to deliver victory for us in Akwatia. So that the same benefit that all constituencies that are being properly represented in parliament are deriving will be derived by the people of Akwatia,” he stated.
