The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Wa West, Peter Lanchene Toobu, has renewed his commitment to improve education and empower the constituents.
"I will continue to work tirelessly to deliver meaningful development and improve the state of my constituency,” he stated.
Mr Toobu said this when he accounted for his stewardship to the people at a press briefing at Wechiau on September 30, 2025.
During the interaction, constituents were given the opportunity to ask questions, seek clarification and provide recommendations on the MP's work in the constituency.
On education, he said, he had spent GH¢304,000 sponsoring 126 brilliant needy students and distributed over 10,000 exercise books to pupils throughout the constituency.
Mr Toobo said he had also provided opportunities for close to 200 individuals to acquire employable skills such as mechanics, dress and soap making.
He explained that most of the projects were undertaken through his share of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), which had been instrumental in enhancing the entrepreneurial opportunities of the people.
The MP said plans were far advanced to upgrade and complete the Dorimon E-Block and to transform it into a fully-fledged boarding school.
That, he said, was to provide more access to education for the constituents.
As part of plans to expand access to power supply and improve its stability, he said more communities would soon be connected to the national grid to increase coverage.
"Electricity extension works have been completed in areas where poles are already installed, enabling power supply," he stated.
He said the district had acquired 1,000 hectares of land for an agricultural project to enhance farming practices and also purchased 30,000 birds worth GH¢200.000 to support poultry farming.
Additionally, he assured constituents that equipment would soon be deployed to dredge the dams to improve water supply for farming.
In the health sector, Mr Toobo said funds had been allocated to all nine health centres in the constituency to improve healthcare services in every community in the district.
