Mr Mike Hammah, Minister of Transport, has called on Ghanaians to offer their rich experience to the ruling government towards the development of the country instead of always criticizing it.
He said this unnecessary criticism would not help the nation and the better Ghana Agenda of the government.
Mr Hammah made the call at a meeting of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) branch of Tertiary Education Institution Network (TEIN) of the National Democratic Congress last Saturday.
The meeting was under the theme; "Government Policies and Women Empowerment in the Better Ghana Agenda".
Mr Hammah, who is also the Member of Parliament for Effutu, said the recent unnecessary criticisms of the government by some Ghanaians for not performing was uncalled for, adding that the National Democratic Congress
(NDC) Government, led by Professor John Evans Atta Mills, had been given four years by the people to steer the affairs of the nation.
Critics of the government should wait till the end of tenure before they could judge the government, he said.
The Minister therefore advised the students to use their rich experience to help educate the public on polices and developments programme
being executed by the government.
In a speech read for Madam Anita Jemima Deso-soo, NDC National Women's Organizer, who was the guest speaker, she said women empowerment was a tool for national building.
She however regretted that society had a negative concept on womanhood, adding that in order to achieve gender equality and equity, there should be the need to put in place affirmative action plan.
She said a policy should be stated in the Constitution that would cater for the proper training and education of the girl-child.
Mr John Nyaaba, President of the UEW branch of TEIN, congratulated Flight Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, founder of the NDC for being selected as one of the icons in Africa and on his recent appointment as the Ambassador for Peace in Somalia.
He said the UEW branch of TEIN, also "acknowledge efforts being made by President John Evans Atta Mills to make the country a better place to live".
Mr Nyaaba called on the government and party to equip the group with copies of government programmes and policies to help educate the public on them.
He appealed to the National Executives of the Party and the Member of Parliament for the area, to support them with computers for effective running of their secretariat.
