The Very Reverend Joseph Maxwell Ossei, chaplain of Agona Swedru North Calvary Methodist Church, has advised government appointees and other State officials to serve as agents of change for national socio-economic advancement.
He said it is sad to note that some public officers only grabbed State resources for their parochial interests to the disadvantage of
the masses.
Very Rev Ossei said this at a thanksgiving service in honour of Mr Emmanuel Kweku Tetteh, the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) at Agona Swedru in the Central Region.
He said the attitude of some government officials provoked Ghanaians to speak against the government of the day and expressed the hope that the new MCE would use his expertise as a senior lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba, to transform the Agona West Municipality into a better place.
Very Rev Ossei urged the people in the Municipality, especially technocrats, and staff of the Assembly, to assist the MCE to successfully implement his vision.
He advised party supporters, assembly members, opinion leaders and other stakeholders to give their maximum support, adding that, without their help, the MCE could not thrive single-handedly.
Mr Tetteh, for his part, thanked the Reverend Ministers and entire congregation for their unflinching support and prayers that facilitated his appointment.
He assured the Chiefs and people of Agona West that he would do his best to transform the Municipality, adding that, this could be achieved with their cooperation and understanding.
Mr Samuel Oppong, Presiding Members of the Agona West Assembly, appealed to prayer groups of the various churches in the Municipality to continue to pray for wisdom and love for the MCE to perform creditably.
