The Kwabre East District Assembly, last year, mobilized GH¢441,790.30, through internally generated funds (IGF), Mr Adams Iddisah, the District Chief Executive (DCE), has announced.
This represented 72.8 per cent of the projected target of GH¢607,130.00.
Addressing the first ordinary sitting of the assembly at Mamponteng, he said their share of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) during the period stood at GH¢1,569,836.07.
He said one significant boost to the assembly’s finances was its qualification for the District Development Facility (DDF), which helped to bring in a total grant of GH¢551,554.79 for development and capacity building.
With these funds, a number of development projects were implemented to transform the living conditions of the people in the area.
Mr Iddisah said in line with the assembly’s drive to create the right conditions for effective academic work in schools, it was spending 30 per cent of its total budget on education.
He also outlined plans to develop the famous “Antoanyamaa river deity” into a major tourist attraction site.
By doing this, the assembly hopes to generate additional revenue to aid the development of the district.
Nana Oduro Agyarko II, the Presiding Member, said given commitment and unity of purpose, the assembly could inject some pace into the socio economic progress of the people in the area.
