Vincenzo Montella insists AC Milan remain in the Serie A title race after they slipped 18 points behind leaders Napoli with a goalless draw at home to Torino.
Seventh-placed Milan were jeered by their own supporters at full-time and have now won only twice in their last nine league games.
Rossoneri head coach Montella said the home fans were entitled to express their displeasure, but believes his team still have plenty to play for.
"I think the team is improving although we still miss the last step,'' Montella told acmilan.com. "The fans backed us during the whole game. I and the team need to accept the boos and whistles after a 0-0 draw at San Siro.
"We still have time, I don't think the teams that are above us cannot be reached.
"Torino are a really good team. They have players up front who can make the difference, among the fringe players as well.''
Croatian forward Nikola Kalinic struck a post for the Rossoneri in the first half at San Siro, and was kept out on a couple of other occasions by Torino goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu.
Spaniard Suso also went close with a free kick for the home side, while both teams had goals correctly ruled out for offside.
Montella admits his players need to become more clinical in front of goal and expects them to improve their poor form.
"Through hard work, we'll come out of this situation,'' he added.
"We had a few bumps in the road.
"We have to improve in finishing. We have to work hard but I am convinced we can make that final step.''
Torino boss Sinisa Mihajlovic, who returned to the club he managed during the 2015-16 season, was pleased with the result and called for his players to improve their home form.
"Today's a good point against a direct opponent,'' he told torinofc.it.
"We have demonstrated balance and consistency in the defensive phase, what we miss now are the lost points with some home draws.
"We are one point from the Europa League [qualification places] and we have to continue to believe it.''
