The annual fun games of the “Face of Madina” – an NGO, were at the weekend held at the Madina Number One School in the La Nkwantanang Municipality. On hand to participate were teams representing the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Madina Estates Drivers Association, Madina Youth Club, Al-Fajr Club and Kabboul Youth Club. They competed in football, spoon and sack race. It provided the platform to educate the people on the need to keep their surroundings tidy, how to stay healthy and fire prevention.
Kabboul emerged champions of the football competition, beating Estate Drivers 1-0 in the final match. Group Officer One Gladys Abatey of the Madina GNFS won the spoon and sack race. Kabboul received as their prize a trophy from the Minister for Inner City and Zongo Development, Alhaji Boniface Saddique.
The Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area promised to build a first class stadium in Madina as part of the drive to unearth and nurture football talents there. He encouraged the people to make sure that they maintained good environmental sanitation. Mr. Leslie Oppong-Boadi of the NGO expressed satisfaction at the sportsmanship put on show.
