Green Grass Technology (GGT), has officially handed over the renovated pitch at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Sports Stadium at Dormaa, to the management of Aduana Stars, ahead of the clash with Libyan side Al Tahadi in the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Champions League match on Wednesday in Dormaa.
The company was awarded the contract in in December 2018, to assist in putting the pitch in good shape for the team to honour CAF Champions League games at its own backyard instead of outside Dormaa.
Addressing a press conference in Dormaa-Ahenkro, Mr Frank Boahen, the Managing Director of GGT, thanked the life patron of the Club Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu I, the Dormaahene, subchiefs, the management of Aduana Stars, staff of Green Grass Technology and their technical team and people of Dormaa for the support accorded them for the work done.
“I was overwhelmed by the level of support given by the people including both young and old people towards the project. It has been a great team work,” he said
Mr Boahen said, the pitch has been designed and regrassing done with scientific approach to meet CAF specifications with a standard measurement of 100 x 70 metres as against the old measurement which was 100 by 68 metres with scientific.
“We have tested for ball bounce, the passing of ball, the movement and the length of grass and I know damage can occur but there's no big damage to it after a number of matches had been played", he stated.
He said there would be a meeting with Aduana management to finalise issues regarding the maintainance of the pitch as huge investment has been expended on the project.
Meanwhile ticket rates for the match have been announced ranging from Ghc15, GHC30 and GHc40 for popular stand, VIP and VVIP respectively.
