The National Women's League (NWL), has received a major boost, as it prepares to commence this weekend, after sealing a sponsorship deal with a local Ghanaian company, FreshPak Products.
FreshPak Product, a 100 percent local company engaged in the disposable food tray market and a subsidiary of the Group Nduom Company, is investing GHC500,000 into the NWL for a period of two years.
Announcing the deal in Accra on Wednesday, Nana Ofori Owusu, Managing Director of Fresh Pak noted that it was a delight for his outfit to partner with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to help women football.
He said that, the amount involved could increase if the NWL got the needed mileage in the media. Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, president of the GFA said the sponsorship was a huge financial relief to the FA.
He said, this was indication that women football had grown and urged all especially the media to help promote it to the rest of the world. The sixth season of the NWL would commence on Saturday and Sunday at the various centers.
As part of plans to whip up interest this season, a new hashtag (#FreshPakNWL), would be used a symbol for the NWL. In all 16 clubs divided into two zones would participate in the Northern Zone and the Southern Zone.
