Former NBA player Glen Davis will be arraigned Thursday on a felony assault charge stemming from an April incident outside a nightclub, a spokesman for the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office said Wednesday.
Davis, 32, was charged Tuesday with felony assault by means of force likely to produce bodily injury, spokesperson Ricardo Santiago said, following an April 8 altercation outside the West Hollywood nightclub Penthouse. The complainant, 27-year-old Daniel Diaz, alleges he suffered great bodily injury.
Davis, known as "Big Baby" during his eight-season NBA career, played for the Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic and LA Clippers from 2007 to 2015. He was a member of the Celtics team that won the NBA title in 2008.
He was slated to play in the BIG3 league this summer.
In February, Davis was arrested at a Hampton Inn in Aberdeen, Maryland, on drug possession and distribution charges. Police said they found 126 grams of marijuana and a briefcase containing $92,000 in cash inside Davis' room. Davis' attorney in that case said Davis maintains his innocence and looks forward to clearing his name in court.
