Mr. Majeed Bawah, Ag. Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), has dissociated himself from the "alleged" petition written to the Board Chairman of the Authority, Mr. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang by some Divisional Workers Union.
A petition which emerged in the media, suggested that, some aggrieved workers of the NSA, have accused Mr. Isaac Asiamah Minister of Youth and Sports, of abuse of power and warn of an impending demonstration to vent their frustration .
However, Mr. Bawah, in a press release, expressed shock at the proceedings unfolding between the NSA and Sports Minister considering the steps taken to address the issues arising.
"First of all, I would like to disassociate myself from the alleged petition and described it as unfortunate. About two or three weeks ago, executives of the divisional union and senior staff association met with the management and expressed their concerns about certain issues of which the staff felt marginalized and sidelined which included the following; Local organizing committee for the Women African Cup of Nations, the Youth in Sports program, the on-going renovation works at the Accra sports stadium etc," the statement said.
The statement said, "the Management assured them that their concerns would be looked into and where appropriate discuss with the Minister of Youth and
Mr. Bawah added that, various issues raised by the workers have been resolved after series of meetings with the various stakeholders, with some staff nominated to serve on the LOC, as he awaits a final meeting with the Sports Minister who is currently outside on a trip.
