Mali will be on a must win mission against Ghana on Tuesday, at the Accra Sports Stadium, according to Houssein Saloum, head coach of the side.
Mali lost 2-1 in their first game against Group A leaders Cameroon and are on the search for three points that could give them any hope of surviving in the competition.
Coach Saloum in a post-match interview after their first loss said they would map out strategy to pick all three points from the host.
“We have to work on our mistakes before we meet host nation Ghana on Tuesday. The game against Ghana would not be easy as they are the hosts, but
we would map out a strategy in training and work hard to get a win in our next game,” he said.
He noted that their first game against Cameroon was a tough one, but his players only gave the victory to their opponents having lost concentration in the course of the game.
“It was a tough game as expected and both teams gave it their all and I am sure the fans were excited about it. Indeed, the first half ended goalless and we changed our formation in the second half and it helped us to get a goal.
We lost concentration and Cameroon got the equalizer and another goal within five minutes. We regrouped and fought to reclaim at least a point, but that did not happen".
