Black Stars trainer, Chris Hughton has refused to promise trophies in the shortest time after taking over as the new coach of the senior national team.
Coach Hughton explained that he was looking forward to building a team that can compete at the highest level before focusing on complimenting it with trophies.
The former Tottenham Hotspurs manager said he was focused on qualifying for the tournaments rather than promising to win trophies which could mean giving false hopes.
“No coach can guarantee a trophy. No coach can sit at a table like this and promise you that. No coach can do that.
“It starts with qualifications and then you can know what to do but no coach can guarantee you a trophy,” Coach Hughton said at his unveiling in Kumasi on Monday.
“We have short, medium, and long-term objectives. In the short term, we want to win football games which will put us in a better position to extend the duration.”
Coach Hughton is expected to lead the Stars in their doubleheader African Cup of Nations (AFCON) encounter with Angola which kicks off on Thursday, March 23 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
