Last Friday, the senior women's national team recorded a 3-1 victory in the first leg at the Accra Stadium, and are seeking to replicate the feat in the final leg to  smoothly sail to the continental showpiece to be staged in Morocco.

Doris Boaduwaa scored a brace while skipper Portia Boakye added a goal to seal the deal for the Ghanaians in front of a vociferous home crowd at the stadium last Friday.

The visitors later reduced the deficit through an own goal scored by Ghana’s captain, Portia Boakye, following a miscommunication between the Ghanaian defenders, exposing goalkeeper Cynthia Findiib who had previously kept a clean sheet in the qualifiers.

The players appear to have put the howler behind them as they departed Accra for Johannesburg last Saturday for the second leg.

The Head coach of the team, Nora Hauptle, has stated her determination to make the final lap a mere formality to ensure that Ghana makes it again to the WAFCON after their last participation in 2018 when the nation hosted the tournament.

“We are looking forward to putting in a good performance on the pitch tomorrow. It's all about winning and bringing the result. We are fully determined to fulfill our job,” she said.

The Queens progressed to this stage after beating their Rwanda counterparts 7-0 in the first leg of the penultimate round before recording a 5-0 victory at the Accra Stadium to wrap up this qualifying leg 12-0 on aggregate to keep their onward march in the campaign.

On the other hand, Namibia advanced to this final round with a 5-2 win over Gambia in the two-leg tie honoured in Morocco as they both played home and away matches from home. Namibia won the first leg 3-2 and also the second leg 2-0.
