Taekwondo stakeholders and enthusiasts will converge on the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi, as the Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) holds its 2025 General Assembly and Stakeholders’ Forum on Saturday.
In a memo issued to Chairpersons and Secretaries of all Member Regional Associations (MRAs) dated October 1, 2025, and signed by the federation’s Secretary General, Mr Adnan Lamptey, members were officially informed about the event scheduled for the Conference Hall of the Baba Yara Stadium.
“In addition to the General Assembly, the GTF will host a Stakeholders’ Forum to gather insights and develop collaborative strategies for the promotion and development of taekwondo nationwide,” the statement indicated.
The meeting, which is in accordance with the GTF Constitution, will have morning and afternoon sessions, with the former commencing at 9 a.m.
On the agenda, the congress will first establish a quorum before the GTF President, Mr Frederick Lartey Otu, presents his annual report, followed by the consideration of previous minutes, the Auditor’s Report, and Financial Reports (2021–2024).
Other agenda items include the presentation of upcoming programmes and projects, reports from Member Regional Associations, a review of the Constitution, an update on the GARTA court case, and the scheduling of the next General Assembly before the official closing.
The afternoon session will feature the Stakeholders’ Forum on the theme: “Promoting Taekwondo as a Preparatory Activity for School Children and a Competitive Sport.”
According to Mr Lamptey, the purpose of the forum is to bring together key stakeholders — including the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), National Sports Authority (NSA), Ghana Education Service (GES), and the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNCPS) — to discuss collaborative strategies for the growth of taekwondo in Ghana.
Regarding participation and accreditation, Mr Lamptey stated that each Regional Association is required to send a maximum of two representatives (preferably the Chairperson and Secretary) to be accredited as delegates.
He further emphasised that members are to confirm their attendance by submitting their names and positions via email to ghanataekwondofederation@gmail.com.
