South African Science and Technology Minister Mosibudi Mangena will resign following a decision by the ANC to remove President Thabo Mbeki from office, the Azanian People's Organization said on Monday.
"After careful consideration of the position of Azapo's president in the cabinet, the standing committee has advised its president to resign with immediate effect," said Azapo secretary general Strike Thokoane.
Mangena had "accepted the advice" and would "follow the normal processes".
Thokoane said the decision on Saturday by the African National Congress' national executive committee to recall Mbeki left the country in a "state of uncertainty and confusion, thereby leading to a crisis in government".
