The Abibiman Sankofa Cultural Movement (ASCUM), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) operating in over 30 communities in the Suhum Kraboa Coaltar District of the Eastern Region, has organised political education seminar for 860 of its members, to sensitise them on democratic governance.
Speaking at the forum at Suhum on Thursday, the Executive Director of ASCUM, Mr Freeman Madji, said the seminar was also meant to initiate a culture of non-violence and decorum during the December Seven general elections.
Mr Madji told the members to endeavour to listen to the manifestoes of the political parties to help them make informed choices.
He also urged politicians to avoid the use of abusive language and other irrelevant attacks on their opponents and called on the youth to engage in political discourses in an objective and constructive manner.
The members of ASCUM prayed for peace and God's guidance for those in authority, especially, the President, Ministers of State and all presidential candidates in the upcoming elections.
