Any party agent found drunk at any polling centre on elections day would be sacked from the centre without a replacement.
Mr Nathaniel Quaye, District Electoral Officer for Ahanta West said in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Agona-Nkwanta after organizing a training session for polling agents of the various political parties.
He also said the Electoral Commission (EC) in collaboration with the security agencies would close-down all drinking bars near polling stations a day before the elections.
These spots would be re-opened a day after the elections.
The action, Mr Quaye said, was to prevent a situation where some people under the influence of alcohol may try to cause troubles at the polling stations.
He stressed the need for polling agents to learn the dos and don'ts of the electoral process on their finger tip, and called on the electorate to have the confidence in the EC and the security agencies to conduct a free, fair and credible election.
"The EC will not rig the elections on behalf of any political party, but will declare the will of the people which they will exercise through their thumb on December seven," Mr Quaye said.
