The Effutu Municipal Police Commander, ASP Jordan Quaye, has cautioned political party supporters and sympathizers in the municipality to refrain from any form of lawlessness, vandalizing, reprisal attacks and confrontation with peace officers during Sunday's general elections.
ASP Quaye gave the caution in a press release he issued in Winneba on Friday.
He said security officers are highly alert and ready to ensure peaceful elections and warned trouble makers to advise themselves since anyone caught would not be spared.
ASP Quaye, who is also the Effutu Municipal Election Security Taskforce Chairman therefore tasked heads of political parties in the Municipality to assert control over their supporters.
He said supporters must refrain from drunkenness, littering streets and the smashing of vehicles believed to be owned by rival political opponents.
ASP Quaye reiterated that aside the civility of the police service towards political parties, the "Winneba Police will not countenance utter disregard for the law".
In a telephone interview with the Ghana News Agency Mr. Quaye said the general atmosphere in the municipality is conducive for a peaceful election on Sunday.
He said adequate security officers would be deployed at the various polling stations to ensure peaceful elections.
