Jordan would train electricity engineers for Iraqi Government under an agreement between the Kingdom and Sweden, Jordan's National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) said on Sunday.
NEPCO has agreed with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) to train Iraqi engineers for Iraqi Ministry of Electricity to recover the war-torn country's power sector, which has been badly hit since the US-led invasion in 2003, said NEPCO's General Manager Ahmad Hiyasat.
The agreement, which goes into effect early in 2009, provides for training engineers to set up a system for the maintenance of power stations, transmission lines and transformer stations among others, added Hiyasat.
According to the official, this is the second phase agreement between Jordan and Sweden, as the two sides had signed a deal on the first phase of the project in 2006.
