The French Embassy to Madagascar has called on the Madagascan transitional authorities led by President Andry Rajoelina to lift all bans on entry of other camps in the Indian Ocean island country.
"The measure of prohibition of entry into Madagascar's territory should be lifted soon," said a communiqué issued on Sunday by the French
Embassy in Madagascar.
The French Embassy also urged all the political camps in the country "to refrain from any action contrary to the spirit of dialogue and national reconciliation necessary for the implementation in good faith agreements signed in Maputo and in Addis Ababa, in respect of consensual and inclusive framework provided by these agreements."
On the forthcoming International Contact Group meeting which is scheduled to take place in Antananarivo, Madagascar's capital city, on
December 17, the statement said that "all conditions should be met quickly to enable the next high level meeting of the International Contact Group to contribute usefully to unblock the situation."
The communiqué was issued following the decision taken by Madagascar's Ministry of Internal Security on December 11, prohibiting the entry of the 25 personalities into Madagascar's territory.
The 25 personalities include former presidents Albert Zafy and Didier Ratsiraka, among others.
