Alhaji Yussif Captain, National Coordinator of the Zongo Caucus of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on behalf of its national executives, has commended zongo communities nationwide for comporting themselves before, during and after the election.
He thanked them for voting massively for the NDC.
Alhaji Captain was speaking at the national executive meeting of the Caucus to review the post-election situation in the country at Dodowa on Saturday.
He said President Mahama was in a position to transform the living standard of people in Zongo communities and called on them to rally behind him (President) to achieve that goal.
Alhaji Captain also called on Mr Paul Tawiah Quaye, Inspector General of Police (IGP) to conduct investigations into the post-election violence that led to the loss of lives.
He said the Zongo Caucus would ensure that people living in their communities receive their first share of the national cake. "We have therefore formed a disciplinary and appointment committees that will maintain discipline and look into appointments of qualify Zongo people to the top of positions."
Alhaji Captain noted that NDC Government under President Mahama would work tirelessly to bridge the developmental gap between the Zongos and other communities in the country.
He thank the National Chief Imam, Sheik Osman Nuhu Sharubutu and the Christian leadership for their ceaseless prayers to God and appealed to them to continue to do so for the unity, stability, peace and development of the nation.
"On behalf of the Zongo Caucus I also thank the Zongo youth for not allowing themselves to be used by selfish politicians to cause trouble, before, during and after the election."
"We must celebrate together as one people from one nation and refrain from anything that will derail the peace and unity we have enjoyed in the country over the year."
