President-elect John Dramani Mahama assumes office today, Monday January 7, as the fourth President of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.
President Mahama and Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur will this morning take the oath of office to be administered by the Chief Justice, Mrs Theodora Georgina Wood before an open Parliament at the Black Star Square in Accra.
A large number of Ghanaians and other nationals are expected to witness the event at the Square and others will be watching the event on television.
More foreign heads of state, heads of delegations are arriving in Accra for the ceremony.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, most of the visiting heads of state will arrive this morning.
Former President Jerry John Rawlings and Former John Agyekum Kufuor are among the very important personalities who are also attending.
