Peru's exports would reach 30 billion U.S. dollars in 2010, up 16 percent from 2009, Peruvian Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Martin Perez said Tuesday.
It is projected that Peru's non-traditional exports would increase between 7. 5 pecent and 8 percent, while traditional exports would rise 16
percent, Martin Perez said.
The official projections are similar to those of the Peruvian Association of Exporters, which predicts that traditional exports, mostly minerals, would reach 23 billion dollars, and non-traditional exports would be 6.43 billion dollars in 2010.
A global recovery from the finanacial crisis and free trade agreements signed with China and the United States are good news for Peruvian exports,
said Perez.
He said the new situation offers opportunities for small- and medium-sized enterprises. "One of the great challenges of our government is how to let all small companies have a lower mortality rate, and make them grow in the market," said the minister.
