Members of the Unit Committees have been cautioned not to meddle in chieftaincy matters but to concentrate on their core business of helping to bring progress to their communities.
Mr De-graft Fokuo, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asante-Akim South, said it was not within their mandate to either install or destool chiefs.
Inaugurating the Committees and Area Councils in the district at separate ceremonies, he said it was imperative they focused on tackling the development challenges of the people they were representing.
The DCE noted that the unit committees were crucial for the success of the decentralization process, describing them as the foundation of the local governance system.
He entreated them to live above reproach, in order to sustain the confidence of the people and allow for effective discharge of their duties.
He also counselled them not to use their position to settle personal scores but to be fair to all.
Mr Fokuo reminded them to be transparent and accountable, warning that, they would be held to account for their stewardship.
He pledged the assembly's support to help carry out their activities.
